"I own an earthmoving business in Brisbane, and run several Case machines in
our fleet. One of our machines is a Case 455C track loader.
A few months ago, we had a major failure in one of the final drives. The
housing was stuffed, as were all the internal components such as the bullgear,
the axle, the bull pinion gear, and the crownwheel and pinion set.
I rang around and found that I was staring down the barrel of a repair bill that
was going to top $12,500 just for the parts alone. I was seriously considering parking the machine up and wrecking it out.

"I purchased a new Ring and Pinion set for my Case 580K through another company,
who sourced it through Lane Trading. When it arrived, I was surprised to see a
Free Information Report packed in with the parts.
The report recommended that I check for several problems that are not always
obvious, or easy to see. But were apparently known to cause repeated transmission
failures if not corrected.
I now consider myself very fortunate to have been given this report, because
the previous owner had only rebuilt my transmission a few months earlier. So I
was disappointed to be rebuilding it again, after such a short period of time.
My transmission had one of the faults highlighted in the report, which caused
the transmission failures.
Had I not received the Lane Trading report, I would not have discovered the problem,
and the service manual doesn’t give any clues about it either.
In the end I called Lane Trading and discussed the problem with Barry Lane.
He gave me great advice on where to send my transmission housing to have the fault
fixed.
In the end, I decided to send my transmission to Lane Trading, and let them rebuild
it for me. I was happy with the price and the service they gave me, and my transmission

and same day service.
Our transmission was delivered to Lane Trading on a Monday afternoon.
By Lunchtime Tuesday Barry had rung with a confirmed quote after dismantling the
complete gearbox and differential.
The transmission needed a new ring and pinion, and the final quote was about
30% cheaper than any previous overhaul, according to other Case backhoe owners
